Folk Bitch Trio share new single
Folk Bitch Trio are back in your earholes with their delightful new track “God’s a different sword”. The Naarm/Melbourne based band lean in to their brand of sweet indie folk which sounds both contemporary and classic. The single is accompanied by an equally cozy music video, featuring the band in matching denim outfits as they journey around Melbourne suburbs, smiling and laughing at the camera. It feels intimate and inviting, a genuine representation of the trio’s connection to each other and to their art.
The trio’s members Jeanie Pilkington, Heide Peverelle and Gracie Sinclair are bonded by harmony. Their voices seem to melt into each other and sit gracefully together at the forefront of their sound. The softness of the guitars and drums complement the musicians’ angelic harmonies and introspective lyrics. FBT’s catalogue stands up as tall as the likes of Boygenius, Big Thief and Julia Jacklin.
In their own words, FBT say the new single “speaks to relinquishing a pattern but indulging in the habit ‘just one more time’. The lyrics are exasperated and questioning, so we wanted them to be held by instrumentation that is optimistic and open.
FBT have proven themselves as some of the best upcoming talent, previously supporting international stars like Alex G and Ben Howard, as well as Australian favourites Julia Jacklin, KGATLW and Courtney Barnett.
They also have a fully stocked schedule for the rest of this year. The band travel all over UK/Europe and the US before returning home for their own headline tour of Australia in November. Select dates in NSW include November 15 at Low302, Eora Sydney and November 16 at The Servo, Dharawal Port Kembla. Tickets available now at https://www.folkbitchtrio.com/ so don’t miss out!
