Kim Gordon’s new sophomore solo album “The Collective” may differ from what you would expect.

While Sonic Youth’s bassist and frontwoman still sings with her iconic cool, dry punk idiolect, she trades guitars and drums for distorted 808 basslines and electronic beats.

Abrasive and addictive, this new release transports her feminist punk ethos into a dark new sound which resembles contemporary genres like hyperpop, trap and experimental hip hop.

‘BYE BYE’ and ‘I’m A Man’ are two highlight tracks. Check it out.
