PREMIERE: Bones & Jones new single 'Need It'
After releasing their 11 track album Love You back in June and playing a godly amount of shows around the country since, Bones and Jones are back with their fresh single ‘Need It’ to finish out the year. Lucky for us we have the privilege of premiering the track before its official release tomorrow, along with a music video directed by Willem Kingsma! The single is the first taste of a new sonic direction for the Victorian based five piece where we hear them reaching for synthesisers rather than their usual slide guitar.
While ‘Need It’ is a new sound for the band, it still holds that same Bones and Jones charm we all know and love with its uplifting nature and heartfelt lyricism. Speaking on the new track, Jasper Jolley says “Need it came about in between recording sessions at the farm. I layered most of the song after work and wrote the lyrics and stuck the vocals down pretty quickly. The song is about being lucky enough to be leaning on your friends and partner when you're not doing your best.” It shows that the band is evolving in an exciting new direction, shying away from their alt-country roots and shifting towards the world of indie and early 00’s garage rock. You might hear tones reminiscent of the Strokes and The Libertines with more of a contemporary edge.
Despite the many achievements this year has held for the band, they’re busy as ever in the studio still, preparing for 2024 and even more new music with it. They've got a number of shows lined up before the year’s end also and will be heading over to the states as part of SXSW USA! You can catch them locally this Saturday at La La La’s though where they’ll be supporting Caitlin Harnett & the Pony Boys. We might see you there! But for now wrap your ears around the new one from Bones and Jones.
